Key Features for the Samsung Z Fold 5

Samsung has listed a lot of key features for the Samsung Z Fold 5, as you can see in the image above. But what of these key features are new to the Samsung Z Fold series? We will only discuss the new key features that are appearing in the Samsung Z Fold 5 in this blog.

First key feature is the thickness in between the two screens of the Samsung Z Fold 5. The thickness in between the two screens of the Samsung Z Fold 5 has shrunk compared to the previous models of the Samsung Z Fold series. It shrunk by 2.4 mm which will make the Samsung Z Fold 5 fit better in tighter spaces and reduce grease or any substance that form between the two screens due to the previous thickness.

Second key feature is the slimmer design of the Samsung Z Fold 5. The Samsung Z Fold series design has been known for being a bit bulky. With the Samsung Z Fold 5, Samsung has changed that issue and made the Samsung Z Fold 5's design slimmer to satisfy users who provided the bulky complains. Good move Samsung.

Third key feature is the weight when carrying and use the Samsung Z Fold 5. The Samsung Z Fold 5's weight is a bit lower compare to previous models of the Samsung Z Fold series. This will satisfy users that prefer to carry smartphones that are lighter in their hands. A person doesn't want to feel strain in their hands by carrying and using a smartphone.

Fourth key feature is the colors available in Samsung Z Fold 5. The black and cream colors aren't new for the Samsung Z Fold series. However, Samsung is introducing the first blue color in the Samsung Z Fold series which is called Icy Blue. Something different in the color department.

That is the only key features the new Samsung Z Fold 5 provides to their users. Rest mentioned by something Samsung, are key features that the previous Samsung Z Fold series smartphones also provide to their users. Comparisons against other foldable smartphones

The first comparison we will be looking at against, is the Samsung Z Fold 4. 

As mentioned earlier, there isn't much differences between the Samsung Z Fold 4 and Samsung Z Fold 5. There is literally only two differences besides the small design changes on the Samsung Z Fold 5.

The first difference is the weight each smartphone has. The Samsung Z Fold 5 is 10g lighter to carry and use as compare to the Samsung Z Fold 4. Not a big difference between them in weight. However, you will feel the difference when holding each one of these smartphones in each of your hands.

Second and final difference is the color availability each smartphone offers to their users. Both smartphones offer the colors black and cream/beige, but the third color option is where the difference occurs. The Samsung Z Fold 4 offers its users a graygreen color, whereas the Samsung Z Fold 5 offers its users a new icy blue color. This color factor may shift which smartphone out of the two will be purchased. Like me, I prefer the icy blue color as I love the color blue, so I must buy the Samsung Z Fold 5 then out of two options.

Now that we know there is hardly differences between the previous model of the Samsung Z Fold 5, we can compare the Samsung Z Fold 5 against another foldable smartphone. That smartphone will be the Huawei Mate X3. Is Huawei's foldable smartphone better against the Samsung Z Fold 5? 

There are 7 differences between the Huawei Mate X3 and Samsung Z Fold 5. These 7 differences will make an impact on your decision if you going to buy the Samsung Z Fold 5 or not.

The first difference is the design for each smartphone. The Huawei Mate X3's rear camera is layout in the middle, whereas the rear camera of the Samsung Z Fold 5 is left aligned. When you have both smartphones together, you will notice that the Huawei Mate X3's design is way slimmer compare to the Samsung Z Fold 5's design. A user of the Huawei Mate X3 will definitely forget that their smartphone folds open due to its slim design, whereas a user of a Samsung Z Fold 5 will always remember to unfold their smartphone.

Second difference is the display screen size. The Huawei Mate X3's display screen size is 0.25 inches bigger compare to the Samsung Z Fold 5's display screen. Not a big difference between the two smartphones.

Third difference between the Samsung Z Fold 5 and Huawei Mate X3, is their weight. Huawei Mate X3's weight is 12g lighter to carry as compare to the Samsung Z Fold 5's weight. 

The fourth difference is the rear camera specs for each smartphone. Now both smartphones rear camera specs are very close to each other in terms of photo capture quality. The Huawei Mate X3's two rear camera lenses have a little more megapixel quality as compare to the Samsung Z Fold 5's same two rear camera lenses. This means Huawei Mate X3's rear camera must take a bit better photos and videos as compare against the Samsung Z Fold 5's rear camera.

Fifth difference is the selfie camera. The one selfie camera when both smartphones are unfolded, you will experience the Huawei Mate X3's selfie camera is far superior compare to the Samsung Z Fold 5's selfie camera. However, the front selfie camera when both smartphones are folded closed, the Samsung Z Fold 5 has the better selfie camera then.

Battery capacity is the sixth difference between the two smartphones. The Huawei Mate X3 has 400 mAh more battery capacity as compare to the Samsung Z Fold 5's battery capacity. Meaning the Huawei Mate X3's battery will last longer compare to the Samsung Z Fold 5's battery before having the need to recharge it with power.

Final and seventh difference is the charging speeds for each smartphone. The Huawei Mate X3 wins this category hands down. It is fast superior in fast charging compare to the Samsung Z Fold 5, which may result users will go for the Huawei Mate X3 instead.

Where and When will the Samsung Z Fold 5 be available?

The Samsung Z Fold 5 will be available in most smartphone retail stores in mid August. The only retail stores that will have the Samsung Z Fold 5 physically, is retail stores that have pre-orders from users. Overall

The Samsung Z Fold 5 is a good foldable smartphone due to the few changes Samsung did in the smartphone's design and weight. You can clearly see Samsung's focus for the Samsung Z Fold 5 was on making the smartphone lighter and slimmer. 

Rest about the Samsung Z Fold 5, there is hardly a big difference in terms of specs compare to previous Samsung Z Fold models. Plus when comparing the Samsung Z Fold 5 against the competitor's Huawei Mate X3, the competitor's smartphone Huawei Mate X3 is far superior in most specs. Even the Huawei Mate X3's design and weight is lighter & slimmer against the Samsung Z Fold 5's design and weight.

The Samsung Z Fold 5 is a good smartphone to have if it is your first foldable smartphone. But if you have a Samsung Z Fold 3 or 4 and now you want to take the Samsung Z Fold 5, you are making a mistake in my opinion as you will not see the big difference when using the new Samsung Z Fold 5.
