Who is AEW (All Elite Wrestling)?
All Elite Wrestling, also known as AEW, is a professional wrestling promotion that has gained significant attention and popularity in recent years. It was founded in 2019 by Tony Khan, the son of billionaire businessman Shahid Khan. AEW was created as an alternative to mainstream wrestling promotions, offering a fresh and innovative approach to the art of wrestling.
What sets AEW apart is its commitment to showcasing a diverse roster of talented wrestlers from around the world. AEW's roster includes well-known veterans of the wrestling industry, as well as up-and-coming stars. The promotion has also placed a strong emphasis on promoting women's wrestling, giving female wrestlers the opportunity to shine on a big stage.
AEW has gained a reputation for its exciting and high-energy matches, with its wrestlers pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the squared circle. The promotion also embraces storytelling, creating captivating narratives that keep fans engaged and invested in the ongoing rivalries and alliances between the wrestlers.
One of the hallmarks of AEW is its fan-friendly approach. The promotion actively listens to its fanbase and incorporates their feedback into its programming decisions. AEW also hosts fan events and meet-and-greets, creating a strong sense of community among its passionate supporters.
In addition to its weekly television show, AEW Dynamite that airs on Thursdays, AEW has other three shows in the week which are called the following:
- AEW Dark (Tuesdays)
- AEW Rampage (Fridays)
- AEW Collision (Saturdays)
Besides the wrestling shows, AEW also now and then release special live documentaries that fans can watch what is happening backstage with certain wrestlers when they are not wrestling. There are two shows currently available to watch and they are called the following:
- Rhodes to the Top
- AEW All Access
If you are interested to watch AEW and all it shows, but do not know where to watch it from, I got you covered. Click on the following link and you will be redirected to a stream website where you can watch all AEW wrestling and other wrestling shows for free.

Quite a big roster of wrestlers to choose from. Remember some DLC wrestlers will only be available later in the course of the year, 2023. Even Cody Rhodes that isn't with the AEW company anymore, has been included in the game. Making him the first ever wrestler that is at a different wrestling company, but featured in a other wrestling company's game.
Like Kenny Omega said, they want to make sure AEW history is in the game. Thus, they kept Cody Rhodes in the game due to the big role he played in AEW when he was there. WWE never did something like this before and always removed a wrestler from their games when the wrestler left their company and joined other wrestling promotions. Cody Rhodes is my favorite wrestler since he changed his persona to the "The American Nightmare". The photo says it all.
Another wrestler to mention, is Owen Hart. I can be stand to be corrected, but I never saw Owen Hart in a wrestling game since 1994 on WWF Raw. It is this legend's first time appearance in a long time, in a wrestling game. So if you are a fan of Owen Hart, AEW Fight Forever is the game you must buy.
Even though the AEW Fight Forever roster is quite big, if you are AEW wrestling fan, you would have noticed some wrestlers did not make it into the game. Wrestler names like the following:
- Anthony Bowens
- Austin Gunn
- Athena
- Bandibo
- Big Bill
- Billy Gunn
- Brian Pillman Jr
- Brock Anderson
- Brody King
- Buddy Matthews
- Christopher Daniels
- Claudio Castagnoli
- Colt Cabana
- Colten Gunn
- Daniel Garcia
- Dante Martin
- Darius Martin
- Ethan Page
- Evil Uno
- Isiah Kassidy
- Jake Hager
- Jay Lethal
- Jay White
- Jamie Hayter
- Jeff Jarrett
- Johnny Elite
- Juice Robinson
- Kip Sabian
- Komander
- Konosuke Takeshita
- Kyle O'Reilly
- Madison Rayne
- Marq Quen
- Matt Sydal
- Max Caster
- Mercedes Martinez
- Ortiz
- Penelope Ford
- QT Marshall
- Red Velvet
- Roderick Strong
- Samoa Joe
- Santana
- Saraya
- Serena Deeb
- Shawn Spears
- Sony Kiss
- STU Grayson
- Swerve Strickland
- Taya Valkyrie
- The Blade
- The Butcher
- Toni Storm
- Tony Nese
- Willow Nightingale
- Wheeler Yuta
It is a massive list of wrestlers that didn't made it to the game. Some understandable being they are new to the company. But there are ones that have been part of the company since day 1 and they have been excluded off the game which does not make sense.
Hopefully all these wrestlers will be added to the game eventually as Kenny Omega did confirm the game will have continuous support after the launch. Hope this will be true as some of the wrestlers would be a great addition to the game's roster. Plus will keep the game fresh and new every time you add some wrestlers to it.

Gameplay Features for AEW Fight Forever
There are 5 gameplay features which AEW Fight Forever will provide to their users. The first feature, is the Exhibition feature. Here you can make your own matches with the wrestlers of your choice.
The match types you will available under exhibition are the following:
- 1-On-1 (Normal, Lights Out Match or Falls Count Anywhere)
- 2-On-2
- 3-Way Match
- 4-Way Match
- Casino Battle Royale (Solo Suit or Group Suit)
- Exploding Barbed Wire Death Match
- Ladder Match
- Minigames (Chip Gather, AEW Pop Quiz, Penta Says, etc)
- Training
The good points from the Exhibition feature is the following:
- Extreme Match Types - Each extreme match are very extreme and involve weapons that you cannot find on current WWE games. Example the Exploding Barbed Wire Death Match that has a lot of explosions and blood shown a lot more if you want this feature. If you do not like blood in games, the feature can be turned off in settings.
- Royal Rumble Team Feature - If you love Royal Rumble match types, then you will love the Casino Battle Royale. There you can win the match either just being on your own or as a team. It is the first attempt that a team can win a royal match.
- Minigames - It is something extra you can play than just wrestling in a game. Quite interesting and something different. Kids and young adults will like this.
- Male Vs Female match types - Yes, you read right here. All wrestlers can wrestle against each other. No matter if they are male or female. It has been awhile a wrestling game allowed males vs females in a match.
The bad points from the Exhibition feature is the following:
- Ladder match - The ladder match only has a 1-on-1 match type. No 3-Way match or more match features, which is quite upsetting. As ladder matches are quite interesting when you have 6 wrestlers same time in the ring.
- 3-Way & 4-Way Tag Matches - There are no tag team matches of more than 2 wrestlers on a team in the game. It is upsetting as there are AEW factions that have more than 3 wrestlers in a team. So basically we are cutting out a wrestler that should have been in action with a team in a match.
Of course, there is a online feature type where you can play online against players and raise your rank level online. You must have a internet connection in order to play this feature. Plus depending on the platform you play the game on, you might have to pay a subscription for the platform you playing from. Example the Nintendo Switch platform, you must have a Nintendo Switch Online subscription to access the online features.
But if online match types don't concern you, you can still access online download content for the game and play the game normally. Just not against friends online. So do not stress about the matter of losing out extra download content or cannot play the game at all.
The online feature type will have the same match types listed under exhibition, but not minigames. So you will not be limited with which match you want to play against your friends online. Just no minigames against your friends online at the moment.
The third gameplay feature is Custom. Like in all wrestling games, you can either edit the wrestlers you currently have on the game with what they are wearing or you can make your own wrestler from the beginning. You can also edit or make your own teams or wrestling arenas.
It is a great feature to have. However, the custom feature success' depends on what items developers added to the game for the custom feature. Firstly, the custom feature is not advanced as WWE 2K games. There is some limitations. However, you can still create custom wrestlers, teams and arena.
Second you cannot upload your custom creations to online anywhere for AEW Fight Forever, as they do not have this feature in the game. This is a sad one as many users like to download other users custom creations like in WWE 2K games. Now they cannot do this in AEW Fight Forever.
However, it does bring back the times when users went on Google to search for tutorials how to make certain custom wrestlers from scratch. There are a few users that upload videos how to make certain custom wrestlers. Like Roman Reigns from WWE in the video below:
The one positive thing about the custom feature, is that your custom wrestler can be used in the next game play feature from the start, which is the Road to Elite. Most new WWE 2K games do not allow you to use a custom wrestler that has been created outside your game story mode. You will be asked to make a new custom wrestler from the start in their game story mode.
With AEW Fight Forever, you will not experience this issue. So if you want a custom wrestler like Roman Reigns in your Road to Elite storyline, then you can have it without having the need to recreate him again in the story mode. You just simply select him from you active wrestling roster.
Now in the Road to the Elite, you can either use a custom wrestler or a current wrestler that is part of the roster. The only difference between the two options, is that you can train you custom wrestler to become stronger and customize them while they are in the story. While with the current wrestler you can only train them and not change their move set.
The Road to Elite is the best feature in the game. There you experience what a AEW wrestler experience in 1 year at AEW. Training sessions, press conferences, TV shows, sight seeing and even have a meal. Of course, wrestling to and your story changes as you win or lose in a match. The story changes to if you join certain factions like the Dark Order, The Inner Circle or the Pinnacle.
Then there are special moments when a snapshot is taken of your wrestler and another wrestler together. Some of these snapshots are quite interesting to look at and something to remember of your gameplay with a specific wrestler you selected. I hope to get a snapshot of Cody Rhodes with CM Punk in AEW as there hasn't been a photo of them together in AEW, while Cody Rhodes was still there.
The final feature gameplay for AEW Fight Forever, is challenges & shop. Reason why I mention them together, is because the shop cannot function if you complete the challenges in the game. Let me explain.
Like in every wrestling game, there are certain features that needs to be unlocked by purchasing them by in game currency. I am not referring to real cash payments. More like currency you get rewarded when completing certain challenges or even just winning matches against some wrestlers.
That is why the challenges and shop work hand on hand with each other. The more challenges you complete, the more in game currency you get in order for you to unlock stuff under shop. But if you find the challenges challenging, then you can just complete normal matches under exhibition or Road to Elite. You will receive in-game currency from those features as well.
In the shop, you will be able to unlock certain poses, clothes, accessories, entrances, current wrestler outfits and even wrestlers themselves. Like Cody Rhodes and Audrey Edwards can only be unlocked by in game currency. Luckily the currencies for all unlockable items, aren't that high and easy to unlock.
Just keep note, there are hidden items that do not appear under the shop section immediately. They only appear when a certain event occurs. Example there are 3 hidden wrestlers that can only be unlocked if a certain event occurred in your game.
Those 3 wrestlers names are:
- Brodie Lee
- Paul Wight
- Owen Hart
If you want to know how to unlock each one of these 3 wrestlers in order to purchase them in the shop, watch the following videos that were created by some users:
Where and When can you buy AEW Fight Forever?
- Playstation (PS5/PS4)
- Xbox One (Original/S/X)
- Windows (Steam)
- Nintendo Switch
You can buy AEW Fight Forever either online or physically at a gaming retail store. I bought mine online as it is faster to receive and more secured if something happens to my console, I can just redownload the game at no extra cost on a new console as the game will be saved under my gaming platform account. Plus I avoid game discs that get damage over time.

Overall
AEW Fight Forever is a fun wrestling game to have. If you liked games like WWF No Mercy and WWF Here Comes The Pain, then you will enjoy AEW Fight Forever.
Yes, there is some areas AEW Fight Forever cannot compete with WWE 2K games. But AEW Fight Forever is going to the right direction. Especially with its Road to Elite feature, exploding barbed wire death match and easy gaming controls.
Plus, Kenny Omega confirmed there is going to be a good gaming support after the release of the game. Meaning the game is going to receive ongoing support to make game fixes or even add more wrestlers to the game. I really hope for more wrestlers joining to the game like Jake Hager, The Acclaimed, Billy Gunn, Samoa Joe, Jay White and Juice Robinson. They will be great additions to the game.
There are two things that make me happy about this game. Finally, I can play wrestling on the go again like on the Nintendo Switch platform. WWE 2K never made a wrestling game on the Nintendo Switch again since WWE 2K18. Basically 5 years ago. Now finally I can enjoy a wrestling game on the go again like AEW wrestler, Sammy Guevara.
Second thing I am most happy about is that Cody Rhodes was still included in the game. Cody Rhodes contributed a lot to AEW's success in the beginning. Thus, not having him in the game would have been a big upset. It would have shown no gratitude to all his hard work when he was under the AEW promotion, if he was not included. So big thanks for AEW boss team to allow Cody Rhodes inclusion in the game still.
By reading my overall summary, it is a yes for me to buy AEW Fight Forever. Especially if you are a wrestling fan. You will see some classic known wrestlers like CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, Jon Moxley (Dean Ambrose), Adam Cole, Chris Jericho, Cody Rhodes, Kenny Omega and many other wrestlers.
But what are your thoughts about AEW Fight Forever? Are you going to buy it? If not, why not? Please provide your answers or comments in the comment section below.
